Hi Michael; I have a '99 with 7,000 miles and the front pulley has a very slight "in and out" play in it, probably to help compensate for a little mis-alignment, but there is no sideways wobble at all. 3/8" really does not sound good. If for some reason the pulley has worn that bad, it probably needs replaced. Frank M.
